Sri Lakshmipathi Theertha was not only a great scholar but also a good doctor. At that time he used to make medicines out of the plants and treat patients. He used to prepare medicine out of Thondekai (a vegetable). So, he was also known as Thondekai Swamy.

He looked after the Ashram for only 15 years. In 1517, he made Sri Lakshminatha Theertha as his heir was immortalized in the Brindavan on Ashada shudha dwadashi.

Even today, thondekai (the blessed vegetable) is offered and used in the Sri Mutt in his memory.
